At the present time we hear a lot about antibiotics. But what do antibiotic medical products represent? Antibiotic drugs are chemicals obtained from microbes and used to kill bacteria or to slow their growth. The first antibiotic drug was created in 1928 by Alexander Fleming, and its creation marked a new stage in the history of medicine. These medical products are commonly used in the contemporary medicine. Doctors prescribe antibiotic medicines to the patients with infections provoked by bacteria. These drugs aren't efficient against the majority of viruses. That is the reason why your physician will not always prescribe antibiotic medications when you suffer from an infection. There are various classifications of antibiotic medications. The most common division is "bactericidal" medications (whose effect is based on killing bacteria) and "bacteriostatic" ones (they work by preventing the growth of bacteria). What's more, different antibiotic drugs are different in use. Some of them are efficient against one type of bacteria (also known as narrow-spectrum antibiotic medicines, when at the same time others can handle a wide variety of infections (these ones are known as broad-spectrum antibiotic medicines). Remember that antibiotic medicine is a strong medicine and should be taken only in conformity with the physician's prescription. Do not think that the medical product that had an effect on your friend will be suitable for you. Most possibly it will not bring positive results, it may even do much harm. You should know that antibiotic medications have side actions so do not even think about autotherapy. Your doctor will tell you what antibiotic and how long you should use it. Regardless priceless importance of antibiotic medical products in modern medicine you should take into account that they are medical products and have certain side-actions. Though antibiotics provoke serious side actions quite rarely, still such symptoms like diarrhea and vomiting will hardly please someone. You should also inform your doctor about all the allergies you have or used to have since some antibiotics may evoke allergic reaction like itching, skin rash or face swelling. If you notice that the use of the antibiotic medicine evoked some unusual reaction, stop its use and see your physician as soon as possible. Stay in good health and remember that your health is in your hands. |
